The Challenge
An established surgery center engaged Ambulatory Management after recognizing significant gaps in its overall survey readiness. Facility leadership required experienced, immediate support to assess current operations, identify areas of exposure, and implement necessary corrections prior to survey inspection.
What We Uncovered
Our team conducted a comprehensive onsite assessment of the facility, reviewing clinical operations, policies and procedures, personnel and credentialing files, infection prevention practices, quality and governance documentation, Life Safety requirements, and other key areas.
The assessment revealed that the center’s challenges were not limited to a single deficiency. Numerous seemingly independent issues were connected to broader gaps in documentation, staff education, accountability, and day-to-day compliance processes. While many of these issues were not immediately apparent to facility leadership, they represented potential vulnerabilities.
Our Hands-On Approach
Rather than simply providing the center with a list of deficiencies, our consultants worked directly alongside leadership and staff to implement meaningful corrective action. We prioritized findings based on regulatory risk, corrected documentation and compliance processes, updated and supplemented policies and procedures, organized required records, provided targeted staff education and competencies, and established clear responsibilities for maintaining compliance moving forward.
Our team remained actively involved throughout the preparation process, continually reassessing progress and addressing issues as they arose. This hands-on approach allowed the center to move from reacting to individual compliance concerns to operating under a more structured and sustainable compliance program.
The Outcome
Through close collaboration with facility leadership and staff, the center successfully addressed the identified areas of concern and entered its survey significantly better prepared, organized, and confident.
More importantly, the engagement provided the center with more than short-term survey preparation. We helped establish stronger systems, clearer accountability, and an ongoing framework for regulatory compliance, positioning the facility to maintain survey readiness well beyond a single inspection.
